The Palompon Institute of Technology College Teacher Education (CTE) conducted its first-ever pinning ceremony for the teaching interns of class 2023 at the PIT Balay Alumni, August 22.
A total of 80 fourth-year students from different college majors were pinned as pre-service teachers.
The faculty members of CTE had initially intended to hold a pinning ceremony for the class of 2020; however, due to the onslaught of the pandemic and other issues that emerged, the ceremony was postponed until the current academic year.
This event recognized their career progression as educators as they will soon start their teaching internship in several primary and secondary schools in Palompon, Leyte.
Dr. Jennifer Gorumba, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, together with the faculty and staff of the said college, were present during the ceremony. Dr. Gregorio Ochavillo, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, was also present to grace the occasion and deliver the inspirational talk.
“Today is your milestone, a milestone in the sense that you are here because you already completed the academic requirements to move forward to a new transition.” Dr. Ochavillo expressed this during his message. “This will give you some kind of self-preparation for the big gap from a classroom setting to a work setting,” he added.
In her welcome message, Dr. Gorumba shared a diminutive overview of the class’ pre-service teaching experience, “Over the upcoming weeks, you’ll be engaging in transformative learning, experience that will challenge you and prepare you to become the best educators you can be.”
Dr. Roushiell France London gave a piece of advice to the pre-service teachers as the first-ever pinning ceremony of PIT came to a close, “Remember that you are not alone in this journey; you are part of a community of educators, mentors, and fellow pre-service teachers who will be there to support you every step of the way. So as you embark on this new chapter, may you carry the vision, mission, and goals of the College of Teacher Education.”
